ASSR TEST

May 20, 2023 19 people Latest news

A repeatedly repeated (rapid) auditory stimulus elicits the electrophysiological response known as the auditory steady-state response (ASSR). A typical ASSR aims to produce an estimated audiogram using frequency-specific stimuli. To put it another way, it is a test for determining thresholds. As opposed to the auditory brainstem response (ABR), which examines the response's amplitude and latency in the time domain, ASSR examines the response's amplitudes and phases in the frequency domain. To evaluate whether a response is present or not, responses are recognized using a statistically based mathematical detection technique. Another distinction is that in frequency-specific threshold ABR, only one frequency can be tested per ear at a time. Binaural testing is made possible by ASSR, which delivers four frequencies simultaneously to each ear (a total of eight presentations).A correction factor is often applied to each response to create the final audiogram, which translates the ASSR responses discovered in the NHL (not estimated hearing levels) to eHL (estimated hearing levels).
