Auditory Consistency ASSR, or Automatic State Response, provides an accurate, frequency-specific estimate of the behavioural pure-tone audiogram. It is an objective test for assessing hearing ability in children who are too young for traditional audiometric testing. The key point is that in order to obtain reliable ASSR results, the person being tested must be very quiet and still. An auditory steady-state response (ASSR) is an electrophysiological response elicited by an auditory stimulus delivered via earphones, headphones, or a BC transducer if doing BC ASSR. An ASSR typically employs frequency-specific stimuli of 500, 1000, 2000, and 4000 Hz in order to generate an estimated audiogram. In other words, ASSR is used to perform objective threshold estimation.
